Bid Engineer / Proposals Engineer / Estimator – Aerospace Department (Permanent).
Location
Derby – 2/3 days in the office.

- Overview
Working within a first‑class precision engineering business that manufactures components with methods such as CNC Machining, Sheet Metal, and Fabrication, we now require a Bid Engineer to join the team.
The role involves leading the estimating process for new business opportunities, preparing accurate and timely cost estimates and competitive proposals, analysing customer requirements and technical data, collaborating with Engineering, Operations, and Strategic Sourcing teams, and engaging with machine tool and cutting tool suppliers to determine manufacturing solutions and investment needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Present bids to customers and explain costing methodologies.
- Support the development of best‑practice estimating processes.
- Hand over successful projects to the Programmes team.
- Regularly review sales and estimating activities with the Business Development team.
Qualifications and Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment that manufactures and assembles components using precision engineering techniques such as CNC Machining.
- Strong understanding of the Aerospace sector (desirable).
- Experience in bid preparation, estimating, cost modelling, and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of the aerostructures and manufacturing sectors, including materials, machining and assembly processes, productivity factors, and resource planning.
- Commutable from Derby, Burton‑Upon‑Trent, Long Eaton, Castel Donington and surrounding areas.
