We are working with a leading client who is looking to add a talented individual to their engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to make an impact by supporting both internal and external design reviews within a defined scope and timescale.
Job Summary / Purpose of Role:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing detailed 3D design packages, including fabrication and manufacturing drawings, while ensuring compliance with contract specifications. You will plan, perform, monitor, and report on assigned tasks, providing regular updates to stakeholders. Your involvement will also extend to cost reduction initiatives, working with SolidWorks to develop parts and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce detailed 3D design packages and fabrication/manufacturing drawings.
- Ensure projects are completed in line with contract specifications.
- Plan, execute, monitor, and report on tasks, meeting deadlines.
- Provide updates to stakeholders on progress and deliverables.
- Participate in cost reduction activities.
- Use SolidWorks for parts and assemblies, ensuring accuracy and quality.

Person Specification (Skills, Knowledge, and Experience):
- Essential:
- Previous experience in mechanical engineering or a similar industry (fabrication, power generation, energy, or electrical).
- Experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of sheet metal and structural engineering.
- Proven experience in producing Bill of Materials.
- Adherence to quality procedures.
- Desirable:
- BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering (or a related discipline).
- Understanding of acoustic and air flow packages.
- Experience with steel modular canopies.
- Knowledge of design verification calculations (acoustic, structural, heat & ventilation).
- Familiarity with generators and switchgear.
Education & Qualifications:
- Apprenticeship-trained or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or other relevant engineering discipline).
- Experience with 3D CAD packages (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred).
