My client, a highly regarded and successful civil engineering contractor, is looking for experienced Senior Engineers to support the delivery of a significant HS2 track drainage package operating across three separate work fronts, located in Warwickshire. The package primarily consists of HS2-standard track drainage, including drainage runs, chambers and associated infrastructure, with a smaller element of reinforced concrete works including ground beams and pile caps. The Senior Engineers will work closely with the Package Agent, Works Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors and wider engineering/design teams to ensure the works are delivered safely, accurately and to programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the engineering delivery of designated drainage work fronts.
  • Manage and coordinate site engineering activities and engineering resources.
  • Ensure drainage works are constructed in accordance with the latest drawings, specifications and HS2 requirements.
  • Oversee setting out and construction of drainage runs, chambers and associated infrastructure.
  • Provide engineering support for associated earthworks and excavation activities.
  • Support delivery of reinforced concrete works including ground beams and pile caps.
  • Review drawings and specifications and identify design or constructability issues.
  • Raise and manage TQs, RFIs and technical issues through to resolution.
  • Prepare and review RAMS, ITPs, inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Carry out inspections and ensure works comply with the relevant specification and design.
  • Coordinate with the design team, Site Agent, subcontractors and construction teams.
  • Monitor progress and provide accurate short-term programme information.
  • Assist with sequencing and planning of works across multiple work fronts.
  • Support the commercial team with measurements, change and compensation events where required.
  • Ensure accurate as-built information and handover documentation is maintained.
  • Support the delivery team in maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on major civil engineering projects.
  • Strong practical experience in drainage construction.
  • Good understanding of drainage drawings, specifications, setting out and construction methodology.
  • Experience with chambers, drainage runs, excavation and associated earthworks.
  • Experience of reinforced concrete construction, ideally including ground beams and pile caps.
  • Strong technical ability with the confidence to identify and resolve construction/design issues.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing RAMS, ITPs, TQs/RFIs and quality documentation.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors and site teams.
  • Good understanding of construction programmes and short-term planning.
  • Experience on HS2, rail, highways or other major infrastructure projects would be advantageous.
  • NEC experience would be advantageous.
  • Temporary works experience would be advantageous.

We are looking for technically strong Senior Engineers who are comfortable taking ownership of their work fronts and working closely with the Package Agent and wider delivery team.
