Position: Key Account Manager, Business Development Manager
Location: South Yorkshire based with regular and frequent travel throughout the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. This will necessitate some nights away. The expectation is for you to be with customers 3/4 days per week, and office based 1/2 days.
Split: Probably 75% Key Account Management of customers with 25% business development of prospects.

The Role:
- Customers and prospects are based throughout the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. You will be expected to visit customers on a regular basis, building relationships and ensuring that whenever there is a need for spares / aftermarket parts that you are the first person that they come to.
- Customer and prospect sites are very much "industrial"; this is definitely not a suit and tie environment so you must be happy donning safety boots, hard hats, hi-vis etc and meeting Engineering Managers and Maintenance Managers whilst at the same time being able to work with purchasing / procurement teams.
- Products / components are engineered products, and as such an appreciation of materials handling equipment or similar is extremely beneficial.
- Orders can range from a few pounds to tens of thousands; the overall budget for aftermarket for 2026 is approximately £5 million.
- As well as supplying your own OEM spare parts, you will also be expected to target prospects with third party OEM equipment and to win the opportunity to quote for reverse engineered replacement parts.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of about 500 customers and prospects spread throughout the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.
- Build solid relationships with key stakeholders including Engineering Managers, Maintenance Managers, Purchasing and Procurement Teams.
- Manage the CRM system to ensure that customers are proactively contacted on a regular basis.
- Provide visit reports and general commercial updates to the Managing Director.
- Develop a trusted advisory relationship with accounts, customer stakeholders and internal partners.
- Prepare and guarantee monthly, quarterly and annual sales forecasts.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in a Key Account Manager / Business Development Manager / Sales Manager role in an engineering / manufacturing environment is essential.
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to travel freely throughout the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia including overnights away on a frequent and regular basis.
- Good commercial skills.
