An innovative technology company based in Cambridge is seeking an R&D Technician to support hands-on research, assembly and testing activities within its growing development team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys practical engineering work, precision assembly and laboratory-based development, working closely with scientists and engineers on advanced electrochemical technologies. You will support day-to-day R&D and engineering activities across cell preparation, assembly, testing and quality control.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare raw materials including electrodes, electrolytes and polymer-based components following established procedures
  • Assemble, inspect and prepare electrochemical cells, stacks and associated hardware
  • Support functional and electro-mechanical testing activities, including post-test disassembly and analysis
  • Operate workshop equipment such as milling and drilling machines for tooling and component modifications
  • Assist with prototype builds and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Carry out routine quality checks, stock control, maintenance and calibration activities
  • Diagnose faults and support basic repairs where required
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Ensure high standards of health, safety and housekeeping within laboratory and workshop environments

About You

  • Mechanical Bias, with practical experience within a production, laboratory, workshop, QC or cleanroom environment
  • Comfortable operating machine tools such as milling and drilling equipment
  • Engineering, technical or laboratory qualification (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • Experience working to SOPs within controlled environments such as GMP, GLP or production settings
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail
  • Able to carry out repetitive tasks with a high level of accuracy and consistency
  • Basic computer skills including Excel and Word
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive and reliable approach to work
