Our client is a Midlands based Civil Engineering Contractor with an excellent reputation and an enviable client list. As part of their continued expansion they are looking to recruit a Labour Manager to take operational ownership of workforce planning and management. This is an important role with responsibility for a workforce of 500+ operatives across multiple projects and regions. The successful candidate will need strong construction or civil engineering sector experience and a proven ability to manage labour strategically across a multi-project environment. The role will cover: Strategic labour forecasting and resource planning across all projects. Mobilisation and allocation of employees and agency personnel. Recruitment and retention strategies to maintain a stable, competent workforce. Labour productivity, utilisation, attendance and performance management. Management of agency supply chains and labour provider relationships. Training, competency, right-to-work and health and safety compliance. workforce welfare and employee relations support. Labour cost, agency spend and workforce budget control. Workforce performance reporting and resource forecasting for senior management. Close coordination with Operations, Production, Commercial, SHEQ, HR and Payroll. The successful candidate will act as the central operational owner of the workforce, improving resource visibility, anticipating labour requirements and shortages, strengthening retention and ensuring that the right people and skills are deployed to projects at the right time. Candidates with demonstrable experience of workforce or labour management within construction, civil engineering, groundworks.
