An innovative, high-growth technology company is developing next-generation energy storage solutions to support the global transition to electrification. Their cutting-edge approach combines advanced materials and novel system design to deliver high-performance battery technologies for future power applications.
As part of their continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in translating breakthrough R&D into scalable, real-world products. The right candidate will have good practical experience with compression systems, thermal/gas management & electro-mechanical devices.
Working within a multidisciplinary scale-up team, you’ll be involved in taking early-stage technology through to deployable systems, collaborating closely with engineering, product and commercial teams. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business at a pivotal stage of development, offering strong exposure to innovative technology and the chance to make a tangible impact.
You will support the transition from prototype to production, focusing on cell-to-module integration and system-level design.
Key responsibilities:- Scale laboratory concepts into larger, application-ready formats including design, build and validation
- Develop and optimise mechanical compression systems at both cell and module level
- Define and implement thermal and gas management strategies
- Establish and improve quality control processes for components and assemblies
- Design and integrate electrical interfaces between cells and modules in collaboration with electronics teams
- Work closely with mechanical engineering teams on design alignment, prototyping and packaging strategies
- Produce and maintain detailed CAD models and engineering drawings
- Manage engineering changes, including BOMs, documentation and design traceability
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards and safe working practices
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience taking products from prototype through to production
- Background in complex engineering environments (battery or energy storage experience beneficial but not essential)
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) across metal and plastic components
- Proficient in CAD, engineering drawings and tolerance analysis
- Experience delivering projects in fast-paced, evolving environments
- Able to solve problems effectively in ambiguous or developing technical settings
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document and share technical information
- Collaborative, proactive and comfortable working cross-functionally
