Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of site mechanical and electrical maintenance engineers. Working closely with production, operations and technical to improve engineering standards and efficiency, being also responsible for the training and development of the engineering team within your area of control.

Responsibilities

  • Leading by Example: Driving the team from the front, this key role requires active participation in all tasks and processes.
  • Hands-On Approach: Ensuring a proactive and leading approach to addressing issues and managing tasks.
  • CMMS Reporting: Ensuring all work is promptly and accurately reported on the Shire CMMS system, maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities and tasks.
  • Ensuring smooth transition of information between shifts, actively engaging with the Production Area Manager to gather critical details.
  • Effectively communicating shift handover information to engineers and operators, ensuring clarity and understanding of tasks and priorities.
  • Active participation in SIC shift production meetings, contributing insights and updates relevant to engineering operations.
  • Identifying and addressing key production issues, collaborating with Area Managers to develop effective action plans and ensure timely acquisition of critical spares.
  • Providing clear and concise briefings to the team on upcoming tasks, activities, and priorities, ensuring alignment and focus.
  • Identifying opportunities for planned maintenance and remedial work, coordinating with the team to ensure readiness and effective execution.
  • Management of contract labour activities during shift with effective communication between operations and engineering.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination between in-house engineering teams, ensuring alignment with operational requirements.
  • Review performance of the shift with Area Managers in readiness for shift handover - ensure 100% lost time is accounted for during your shift with action plans for ongoing issues to deliver an effective solution.
  • Providing detailed shift handover communication to the oncoming shift engineering Team Leader, ensuring accurate documentation of known issues and downtime and all downtime is accounted for.
  • Detailed Root Cause Analysis reports for all major stoppages, segregations, and seam defects to facilitate resolution and prevention.
  • Ensure meeting attendance as and when required with a focus on internal customer support.
  • Attending meetings as required, prioritising internal customer support and collaboration.
  • Planning and coordinating remedial work, ensuring timely acquisition of all necessary components and resources.
  • Managing contractors and permits to work, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and adequate Risk Assessment and Method Statement (RAMS) preparation for your shift.
  • Ensure effective close out of permit prior to shift end and facilitate appropriate hand over.
  • Providing training and mentorship to apprentices, ensuring their development and progression within the team.
  • Prioritising the safety and well-being of all employees, implementing and maintaining rigorous safety protocols and practices.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, maintaining high levels of cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments for all non-routine tasks, ensuring the safety and well-being of all team members.
