An established and growing residential groundworks contractor is looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join its commercial team in Leicestershire.

Working with many of the UK's leading housebuilders, the business delivers a wide range of residential infrastructure and groundworks packages, including roads, sewers, drainage, foundations, plot works and external works.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, this is an excellent opportunity to join a successful contractor with genuine long‑term career prospects.

The Role

This is a varied commercial position, combining both estimating and quantity surveying responsibilities.

Working closely with the commercial and operational teams, you will play a key role from tender stage through to project completion.

Key responsibilities include

  • Preparing estimates and tender submissions for residential groundworks projects.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Producing accurate take‑offs and cost plans.
  • Assisting with subcontractor and supplier procurement.
  • Preparing valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Monitoring project costs, forecasts and commercial performance.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Supporting the successful commercial delivery of multiple projects across the region.

About You

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator or in a combined commercial role within the construction industry.
  • Experience in residential groundworks, civil engineering or infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • A strong commercial mindset with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction (preferred but not essential).
  • A full UK driving licence.
