We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing civil engineering contractor seeking a talented planning professional to join their team in Enfield.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of major infrastructure and construction projects, working across the full project lifecycle from Tender and Pre-Construction through to Construction.

The Role

As the Senior Planner, you will take ownership of the planning and programming function on a range of key bids and live projects, producing robust, achievable programmes that support successful project delivery.

Working closely with project teams, clients, consultants and key stakeholders, you'll provide planning expertise that ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently and on programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning function across tenders, pre-construction and live projects.
  • Produce, develop and maintain detailed project programmes and methodologies.
  • Prepare planning reports, presentations and supporting documentation.
  • Develop and monitor project critical paths, identifying risks, opportunities and programme constraints.
  • Apply resource planning and resource levelling techniques where required.
  • Present programmes and sequencing to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Produce and update contract programmes in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and programme updates.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams, designers, subcontractors and the wider supply chain.
  • Liaise with statutory authorities, utility providers and external consultants to ensure programme requirements are fully integrated.
  • Identify issues that may impact project delivery and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ensure planning activities add commercial value throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the wider project team and undertake additional duties appropriate to the role.

About You

You'll have previous operational experience within Construction or Civil Engineering, progressing from a Site Engineer, Site Agent or Project Manager background, together with proven planning experience on Civil Engineering or Infrastructure projects.

  • Strong experience planning Civil Engineering, Infrastructure or Structural projects.
  • Excellent understanding of construction planning, programming and progress monitoring.
  • Knowledge of tender documentation, contract documentation and specifications.
  • Experience identifying programme risks and opportunities.
  • Understanding of delay analysis and change management.
  • Good knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, labour, plant and resource planning.
  • Strong working knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Experience working across Civils, Groundworks and Structures.
  • Proficient in Primavera P6 and Asta Powerproject.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.
