Salary: Up to £45K (DOE)

Role: Junior Buyer/Assistant Buyer – assisting the Procurement Manager in purchasing and supply chain activities for groundworks and civil engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Procurement Manager to ensure materials are delivered to sites in line with site programmes and specifications, and purchased at competitive prices.
  • Collate documentation and issue material tender enquiries.
  • Assess and compare material quotations.
  • Process new material orders.
  • Produce monthly reports detailing material spend.
  • Research new and relevant products in partnership with the Procurement Manager.
  • Carry out invoice checking and resolve invoice queries.
  • Monitor material lead times, keeping site managers informed, and initiate forward material allocation when necessary.
  • Assist with site call‑offs.
  • Provide general assistance to the Contracts & Estimating team as required.
  • Maintain supplier relationships to maximise profitability.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of purchasing experience within a construction‑related company.
  • Good organisational skills.
