Overview
We are seeking an experienced Freight Forwarding Manager to oversee and develop a small, multi-modal operations team. This role is ideal for either an established manager or a high-potential junior candidate ready to step into a leadership position. The successful candidate will have a strong background across air, ocean, and road freight, with the ability to manage end-to-end forwarding operations while contributing to commercial growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team of 3 staff covering all aspects of freight forwarding
- Oversee daily operations across air, ocean, and road shipments
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and industry standards
- Coordinate with internal departments including finance and sales
- Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement
- Support and develop team members through hands-on leadership
- Maintain and grow client relationships
- Contribute to business development, ideally leveraging an existing book of business
Requirements
- Proven experience in freight forwarding (air, ocean, and road)
- Current or recent management/supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of customs procedures and compliance
- Commercial awareness with a customer-focused mindset
- Ability to manage multiple functions including operations, finance coordination, and sales support
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ideally brings an existing portfolio or book of business
- Based in or willing to commute to Liverpool or Manchester, with flexibility to travel
