Stafforce Recruitment are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected steel manufacturing company based in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a heavy engineering environment offering long-term stability, strong earnings and technical challenge.
The Role
Working on a shift basis, you will support the electrical operations of a large-scale manufacturing plant, ensuring equipment reliability and minimising downtime. Key responsibilities include:
- Electrical maintenance of motors and drives
- Fault finding on electronic cards down to component level
- Maintenance of mill thyristor drives
- Electrical maintenance of overhead D.C. and A.C. cranes
- Maintenance and fault finding on PLC systems (ABB & Allen Bradley)
- Using programming tools to diagnose faults and adjust parameters
- Monitoring and maintaining furnace control systems, including calibration of controllers, air/gas transducers, thermocouple changes and furnace lighting procedures
- Responding to breakdowns efficiently and safely to reduce production impact
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
- Experience within a heavy engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to interpret electrical drawings
- Working knowledge of PC-based software (e.g. Excel)
- Experience producing clear shift reports
- A solid understanding of electrical safety legislation and maintenance standards
- Proven experience working to SWPs, risk assessments, I&I procedures, permit systems and IEE Regulations
