We are recruiting a highly capable Maintenance Team Supervisor to lead the on-site MHE Maintenance function within a large, fast-paced operational environment. This role carries responsibility for the maintenance, compliance, and operational availability of over 400 pieces of Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE). The successful candidate will provide strong technical leadership, ensure statutory compliance, and manage both internal engineers and external contractors, while maintaining high safety and operational standards.

This is a hands-off supervisory role, ideal for someone with strong mechanical knowledge who enjoys leading teams, managing compliance, and coordinating maintenance strategies rather than delivering training directly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the maintenance, inspection, and legal compliance of all MHE on site
  • Ensure planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules are delivered effectively
  • Oversee corrective maintenance and breakdown response, minimising downtime
  • Manage and control external maintenance contractors and service providers
  • Ensure all statutory inspections and H&S documentation is accurate and up to date
  • Provide leadership, performance management, and development planning across the team
  • Overall responsibility for MHE and Manual Handling training governance on site
  • Line management of accredited MHE instructors delivering operator and manual handling training
  • No direct delivery of training required, but strong familiarity with MHE training frameworks is essential
Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in a maintenance leadership or supervisory role
  • Strong mechanical knowledge, ideally within MHE-heavy environments (e.g. FLTs, reach trucks, powered pallet trucks, warehouse automation)
  • Solid understanding of MHE compliance, legislation, and safety standards
  • Experience managing maintenance engineers and external contractors
  • Familiarity with MHE training requirements and operator certification frameworks
  • Confident communicator with the ability to lead, influence, and hold teams accountable
