Overview
We are seeking skilled and safety-conscious Port Crane Operatives for positions across South Wales. As a key member of the operations workforce, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of cargo containers, vehicles, and heavy goods using ship-to-shore (STS), rubber-tired gantry (RTG), and mobile harbour cranes.
This is a critical role within port operations, ensuring the smooth flow of imports and exports that keep supply chains moving.
Responsibilities
- Operate port cranes and related heavy-lifting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload containers, bulk cargo, and heavy freight in line with operational requirements.
- Follow all safety standards, operational procedures, and environmental policies.
- Work closely with terminal staff, vessel crews, and logistics teams to maintain smooth cargo handling.
- Carry out routine pre-use inspections and report any defects or maintenance issues.
- Respond to operational changes quickly and maintain high productivity levels.
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience operating cranes in a port, logistics, or heavy-lifting environment (STS, RTG, or similar equipment preferred).
- Valid crane operator license
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices in a high-risk environment.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and at height.
- Flexible approach to shift work, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
- Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
