We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering business in Leicester.

Location: Leicester | Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week | Day Shift: 7:00am - 3:00pm | Benefits: Pension and 25 days plus 8 bank holidays | Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 DOE

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving a wide range of CNC and specialist machinery across company sites in Leicester. You will support both reactive and planned maintenance activity, helping to minimise downtime and keep production moving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical maintenance support across CNC and specialist machinery.
  • Carry out mechanical repairs to gearboxes, bearings, shafts, drive chains, pumps and tanks.
  • Respond to reactive breakdowns quickly and effectively to reduce machine downtime.
  • Investigate reported faults, identify root causes and decide the most appropriate repair action.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance to support equipment reliability.
  • Undertake major refurbishment of plant, equipment and machinery when required.
  • Carry out PLC fault finding and interrogation.
  • Work in line with legal requirements, company procedures and health and safety guidelines.
  • Travel between company sites across Leicester as required.

About You

  • A proactive, hands‑on engineer with strong mechanical maintenance experience and the confidence to diagnose and repair faults on complex machinery.
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in an engineering environment.
  • Experience fault finding and repairing CNC multi‑axis machines.
  • Conversant with Fanuc and Siemens controls.
  • Strong knowledge of current and emerging engineering technology, equipment and maintenance techniques.
  • A practical, safety‑conscious approach with strong problem‑solving skills.
