Join a Business with Ambitious Growth Plans

This is not a traditional sales role. We're looking for someone who wants to be part of a growth journey, helping to build commercial success within an innovative life sciences business that is investing heavily in its products, market presence, and future opportunities. The foundations are already in place. Existing market activity, customer engagement, and product development have created genuine opportunities, and we are looking for a commercially driven individual who can take ownership of this area and help turn potential into long-term success. If you're someone who enjoys opening doors, building relationships, and creating opportunities, you'll have the freedom and support to make a real impact.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Genuine opportunity to shape and grow a business area
  • Direct access to senior leadership and decision-makers
  • Uncapped commission structure
  • Global growth opportunities with no territory restrictions
  • Opportunity to progress into a senior commercial leadership position as the business grows
  • Chance to sell innovative scientific products and solutions into an exciting and evolving market

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you'll be responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and driving revenue growth across a portfolio of life science products and solutions. You'll work closely with senior leadership and play a key role in influencing future commercial strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities across academia, biotechnology, diagnostics, and pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Build relationships with key decision-makers and industry stakeholders.
  • Manage and grow a robust sales pipeline.
  • Identify distributor and partnership opportunities.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements and contracts.
  • Attend conferences, exhibitions, and industry events.
  • Gather market intelligence and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Contribute to product launch initiatives and growth strategies.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with ambitious business development professionals who can combine technical understanding with strong commercial instincts. You may already be working in:

  • Scientific Sales
  • Business Development
  • Laboratory Consumables Sales
  • Research Reagents Sales
  • Life Sciences Commercial Roles
  • Biotechnology Sales
  • Diagnostics Sales

Ideally, You'll Have

  • A degree in a Life Science discipline.
  • Experience selling into research, biotechnology, diagnostics, or pharmaceutical markets.
  • Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to develop new business opportunities from concept through to close.
  • A self-motivated and entrepreneurial approach.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to build something rather than simply maintain an existing territory.

Salary & Benefits Package

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 basic salary

Uncapped commission scheme

Benefits

  • NEST contributory pension scheme
  • 25 days annual leave
  • 20 days flexible annual leave

Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Hybrid Working: Monday & Friday: Working from home; Tuesday to Thursday: Office based

Travel Requirements

UK-focused role with international opportunities. Typically 3-5 days of travel per month. Opportunity to attend customer meetings, conferences, and industry events across the UK and overseas.

The Bigger Picture

For the right person, this role offers far more than a standard sales position. It provides the opportunity to work alongside an ambitious leadership team, influence commercial strategy, build long-term customer relationships, and play a key role in the future growth of a developing life sciences business. If you're motivated by the opportunity to make a genuine impact, help shape a growing organisation, and be rewarded for your success through an uncapped commission structure, we'd love to hear from you.
