We are currently recruiting Relief Class 2 Operative to join a busy and well-established waste and recycling team in Kendal. This is a full time position with an offer of a contract on completion of a probationary period. This is a hands‑on, outdoor role that plays a vital part in keeping local communities clean, safe and environmentally responsible.

The Role
- As a Relief Class 2 Operative, you will be responsible for assisting with the collection of household and commercial waste and recycling and covering drivers on sickness and holidays.
- Working as part of a crew, you will help ensure collections are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Your duties will include:
- Collecting waste, recycling and food waste from designated routes
- Loading bins and containers onto collection vehicles
- Working closely with drivers and other operatives to complete rounds
- Following health & safety procedures at all times
- Providing a professional and courteous service to the public
- Keeping work areas and vehicles clean and tidy
- Class 2 driving as and when needed
About You
- We are looking for reliable, hardworking individuals who enjoy physical, outdoor work and working as part of a team.
- You do not need previous experience as full training will be provided.
- You should be:
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling
- Punctual, dependable and motivated
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Safety-conscious with good attention to detail
- A team player with a positive attitude
- Happy to cover class 2 driving work as and when needed
