Responsibilities

  • Develop 3D mechanical designs and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks (or other CAD software).
  • Participate in concept development and detailed design of automated conveyor systems and associated mechanical assemblies.
  • Collaborate with electrical and controls engineers to ensure mechanical integration within complete systems.
  • Support the production team through the fabrication, assembly, and installation phases of projects.
  • Perform design calculations and materials selection to ensure reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including BOMs, layouts, and assembly instructions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in product design, manufacturing methods, and engineering processes.
  • Liaise with suppliers and customers when required to clarify technical requirements and design intent.

About you

  • BEng / HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experienced in mechanical design, preferably within special-purpose machinery, conveyors, or automation systems.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD package).
  • Understanding of fabrication methods (sheet metal, machining, welding, assembly).
  • Knowledge of mechanical principles - motion, materials, tolerances, and safety considerations.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
