About the Role

We are currently recruiting experienced Electrical Fitters to join a leading heavy industrial manufacturing site in Billingham. These are permanent roles with immediate starts, offering long‑term stability and the opportunity to work within a highly skilled maintenance team. You will be responsible for electrical maintenance, installation, fault‑finding and ensuring plant equipment operates safely and efficiently across a demanding production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out electrical maintenance, repairs and installations across heavy industrial plant and equipment
  • Respond to electrical breakdowns quickly and effectively to minimise downtime
  • Perform planned, preventive and reactive maintenance tasks
  • Diagnose faults on motors, control panels, sensors, drives and industrial electrical systems
  • Work safely at all times, following site procedures and completing risk assessments
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
  • Liaise with maintenance supervisors, engineers and production teams
  • Ensure compliance with electrical standards, regulations and site requirements
  • Assist with contractor supervision when required

Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • City & Guilds 2365 / 2330 / 2360 or equivalent electrical installation & maintenance qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering / Maintenance
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) - highly desirable
  • Experience working as an Electrical Fitter or Maintenance Electrician in a heavy industrial environment (steel, chemical, petrochemical, manufacturing, engineering, etc.)
  • Strong electrical fault‑finding skills on 3‑phase systems
  • Experience with motors, drives, sensors, relays and industrial control panels
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Able to work independently or as part of a maintenance team
