We are looking for an experienced Consultant MCS Assessor to deliver Solar PV and Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) assessment services across Wales and the South West.
This engagement is suited to an independent assessor operating on a consultancy basis, providing specialist technical assessment services aligned to the MCS and renewable Competent Person schemes delivered under the NICEIC brand.
Scope of ServicesThe Consultant will provide independent assessment services, including:
- Undertaking Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery storage (EESS) MCS assessments for NICEIC-registered customers
- Assessing installations, documentation, systems, and resources against MCS scheme rules and technical standards
- Delivering surveillance assessments to confirm continued eligibility for registration
- Producing clear, accurate assessment reports in line with procedural and technical requirements
- Engaging professionally with customers and relevant stakeholders during assessment activity
- Working autonomously in accordance with agreed guidance, manuals, and service instructions
- Demonstrating strong technical competence specific to Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery storage (EESS) technologies
Detailed technical knowledge of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery storage (EESS) systems and the MCS Scheme.
- Strong understanding of Building Regulations, codes of practice, and accreditation requirements
- Knowledge of relevant renewable Competent Person schemes
- Appropriate technical qualifications relating to renewable technologies
- Strong report writing, numeracy, and IT skills
- Ability to manage workload independently and meet agreed timeframes
- Professional communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Full UK driving licence
- Level 3 qualification for Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery storage (EESS)
- Corporate membership of IET, IEE, or CIBSE
- Previous auditing or technical assessment experience
