We are seeking a commercially focused Product Manager on a 12-month fixed term contract to take full ownership of a £30m+ portfolio of certification schemes. This is a high-impact role at the heart of our trading activity, responsible for driving revenue, profitability, market share and long-term product relevance across our schemes portfolio.
You will own the commercial performance and lifecycle of NICEIC certification schemes, including established core products such as Approved Contractor (AC) and Domestic Installer (DIS), alongside developing and emerging scheme areas. You will trade the portfolio with clear accountability for revenue and margin, identifying opportunities for growth, defending market position and evolving our value proposition in response to customer needs, competitor activity and regulatory change.
Working across Standards, Assessment, Operations, Finance, Marketing and Senior Leadership, you will provide coordination and commercial leadership within a matrix environment, ensuring strategic initiatives are delivered effectively and at pace.
Key Responsibilities- Own revenue and profitability for a £30m+ schemes portfolio.
- Develop and evolve compelling value propositions that clearly articulate the benefits of certification and membership.
- Lead lifecycle management and roadmap planning across established and emerging scheme areas.
- Use market insight, customer data and financial performance analysis to identify growth and optimisation opportunities.
- Design and implement commercial strategies that respond to regulatory requirements and industry trends.
- Drive acquisition and retention of certificated businesses, strengthening market share.
- Partner with technical and operational teams to ensure schemes remain compliant, accredited and aligned to industry standards including BS 7671 and Building Regulations.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives requiring strong stakeholder coordination and influence.
- Provide clear operational and financial reporting to SLT to support informed decision-making.
- Degree-level education or equivalent commercial experience.
- Proven experience in Product Management, Category Management or Category Trading, with accountability for commercial performance.
- Experience growing both mature and developing propositions.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing P&L, budgeting and forecasting.
- Data-driven decision maker with the ability to interpret insight and translate it into action.
- Experience operating within regulated, technical or standards-driven environments.
- Strong stakeholder management skills within matrix organisations.
- Confident communicator able to influence at senior level.
- Comfortable managing complexity and competing priorities.
- Experience within building services, certification, compliance or professional membership sectors.
- Experience working with subscription or recurring revenue models.
- Experience improving CRM systems or driving process automation.
