We are actively seeking individuals with a genuine interest and enthusiasm for how quality indicators can drive better care and improved outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high‑performing, multidisciplinary NICE committee and help develop nationally and internationally influential indicators.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritise topics for the development of possible healthcare quality indicators.
  • Review results of testing or piloting, consultation and equality impact assessment.
  • Recommend indicators for publication on the NICE indicator menu.
  • Review existing indicators.
  • Provide advice on indicator development.
  • Act as a co‑author of the indicators, respecting NICE’s rights to publish final products and to receive notification of proposed publications.
  • Attend 3 single‑day meetings and 1 two‑day meeting per year (total 5 days; predominantly virtual with one face‑to‑face meeting).
  • Use your knowledge to inform indicator development and raise concerns within the committee.
  • Commit to professional conduct, impartiality, and adherence to NICE’s principles and policies.
  • Manage out‑of‑pocket expenses and reimbursement as per NICE policy.

Commitment & Remuneration

Committee membership is unpaid. NICE will reimburse reasonable out‑of‑pocket expenses, including train fares, hotel costs, and, where applicable, care‑related travel expenses under the non‑staff reimbursement policy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant experience or specific technical skills in healthcare quality, indicators, or related fields.
  • Ability to act as a co‑author and to share ownership of the final indicators.
  • Strong understanding of public‑sector principles, equality, diversity, inclusion, and professional conduct.
