NICE is updating section 1.11 of its guideline on venous thromboembolism in over 16s: reducing the risk of hospital‑acquired deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism (NG89). This section deals with VTE prophylaxis in orthopaedic surgery.
NICE is forming a committee for the update and would like to recruit to the following roles:
- 3 Orthopaedic Surgeons (with expertise in total hip or total knee replacement or experience of management of fragility fractures of the pelvis, hip or proximal femur)
- Consultant anaesthetist
- Community nurse with experience in supervising or delivering longer term prophylaxis
- Physiotherapist
Closing date: Midnight on Tuesday 5th May. Interviews are scheduled to take place late May and early June.
Main duties of the job:
- Committee members agree to set aside enough time to attend committee meetings and use their personal and professional knowledge to inform the development of the guidance.
- Raise any concerns about process or details in the draft guidance with the committee, and try to resolve these issues within the committee, with support from the guidance developer or the NICE guidance project team.
- Contribute positively to the work of the committee and to developing the guidance.
