Job Description
ABOUT US
NICE RICE is a rice brand on a mission to tackle climate change by changing the rice industry. That might sound strange, but rice is responsible for the second highest CO2e emissions from the food industry! The good news is that pioneering farmers have worked out how to cut those emissions by up to 50% and I’m proud to say that NICE RICE is the first and only brand to source all of our rice from those pioneering farmers. So we’re giving UK consumers the opportunity to enjoy incredible quality rice whilst supporting a more sustainable food system.
We started the business to make change happen (and were proud winners of the Future of Food competition in 2024) but we’re equally passionate about making incredible food. So we pride ourselves on having the highest quality and best tasting rice out there. Our range includes convenient ready-to-heat pouches as well as packaged dry rice and we’re delighted to have won Great Taste awards across both ranges, and Gold award in The Grocer’s new product awards 2024.
Beyond the care we take with our sourcing, we support our farmers by paying them a premium price. And through the NICE RICE FOUNDATION we use 2% of our revenues to provide training to whole farming communities so more farmers can learn and benefit from sustainable farming techniques.
With listings including Waitrose, Ocado, BOOTHS, Zapp and hundreds of the best independent store around the country, we’ve made a good start. But I’m now looking for our first sales hire to help supercharge our growth in existing and new accounts, launching our business into its next phase of growth.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Let’s be clear… this is not a normal NAM role. As the first sales role joining a small team of three (1 x Ops, 1x Marketing, 1x Founder) you’ll be taking ownership of our Grocery and OOH accounts and contributing to the business wherever else is needed.
If that excites you, this could be the dream role for you. If not, stop reading here!
Key Responsibilities:
– Manage and grow our existing accounts: P&L management of our existing customers across Grocery and OOH. You’ll work with Fergus to set ambitious targets for revenue growth and then you’ll ensure we deliver them!
– Winning new business: establish a pipeline of targets to support our core Grocery and OOH listings and convert leads into high growth new listings that deliver company growth targets.
– Commercial strategy: You’ll support Fergus on commercial strategy right across the business as we selectively pursue opportunities in new channels.
ABOUT YOU
To apply for this role you need to have:
– Experience as an Account Manager in UK FMCG
– A proven track record of delivering growth in UK Grocery accounts
– Great communication skills, someone who can build relationships and influence others
– Commercial nous and a strategic mindset, comfortable with numbers and data
– Analytical ability, easily able to identify and interpret trends in performance
– Experience working in small teams / startup preferable
But what sets you apart is that you’re:
– Entrepreneurial, a problem-solver with a can-do attitude, able to handle pace and ambiguity;
– Resilient, able to pick yourself up from a setback and come back stronger;
– Humble, you’re a team player and if it needs to be done no task is below you.
– Purpose-driven, you want to use your unique skills to help us make an impact
PRACTICALITIES
– Basic salary of £45k-£65k dependent on experience
– Performance bonus of 10%
– Performance based equity options award
– Benefits include a 3pm finish on Fridays, workplace pension, training budget to help you maintain your development, 25 days holiday + bank holidays + birthday holiday, cycle to work scheme, as much Nice Rice as you can eat!
