We are looking for professional specialist committee members with an interest in obsessive compulsive disorder and body dysmorphic disorder to join the Quality Standards Advisory Committee.

Roles Being Recruited:

  • Psychologist with expertise in OCD and BDD in adults
  • Mental health nurse with expertise in OCD and BDD

Responsibilities:

  • Attend two Quality Standards Advisory Committee meetings (in-person or virtual).
  • Attend a short virtual meeting (30 minutes) with the NICE quality standards team prior to the first committee meeting.
  • Read, review and comment on relevant material at key points during the development of the quality standard.
  • Prioritise areas of care for which quality statements and measures should be developed.
  • Work with the NICE team and the committee chair as required between meetings; deadlines may be tight.
  • Prepare for the committee meetings by reviewing papers and gathering additional information on the proposed topics.
  • Consider consultation comments.
  • Follow agreed decision-making procedures and accept the collective decisions of the committee.
  • Champion the quality standard after publication and undertake activities to promote endorsement.

Other Expectations:

  • Dedicate time to attend committee meetings and apply personal and professional knowledge to inform the development of the quality standard.
  • Raise concerns about the process or details in the draft quality standard and attempt to resolve them within the committee.
  • Contribute positively to the work of the committee and the development of the quality standard.
  • Consider the analysis and interpretation of evidence prepared by the NICE team.
  • Act professionally, show good manners and be courteous to colleagues and staff at all times.
  • Be impartial and honest; use public funds responsibly.
  • Read and adhere to NICE’s Principles.
  • Act valuing equality, diversity, inclusion, dignity and respect.
  • Read and adhere to NICE’s policies on hospitality, declarations of interest and travel and subsistence.

Remuneration:

The position is unpaid; however, NICE will reimburse reasonable out-of-pocket expenses (e.g., train fares, hotel costs) when necessary for attending committee meetings, per NICE’s non-staff reimbursement policy.

Time Commitment:

Members are expected to attend two half-day committee meetings during the quality standard development. Meetings will be either virtual via Zoom or in-person in Manchester or London.

Conditions:

Attendance at two Quality Standards Advisory Committee meetings over a ten-month period, plus preparation work and discussion of meeting outputs. Additional input may be requested close to publication.
