Welcome to NIBE’s Technical Department. As a Technical Surveyor covering the East of England, you will support the design and delivery of high-quality heat pump installations across the UK. You will visit customer properties to gather all technical and building data required to design compliant, efficient heating systems. This field-based role works closely with the design, installation, and operations teams to ensure each project is correctly specified, technically sound, and ready for installation.

What will you do?

  • Carry out technical surveys of domestic properties for heat pump installations
  • Collect building and property data including room sizes, fabric types, window specifications and external dimensions
  • Assess existing heating systems, hot water arrangements and electrical supplies
  • Identify suitable locations for heat pumps, cylinders, emitters, manifolds and external units
  • Complete building fabric and heat loss calculations using approved software
  • Capture photographic records and site notes using digital survey tools
  • Identify technical risks, access constraints or installation challenges
  • Provide clear and accurate survey information to the design and installation teams
  • Liaise with customers during site visits, explaining the survey process where required
  • Keep up to date with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations and industry best practice
  • As a team member of the Technical Department, you will be asked on occasion to work on a variety of projects unrelated to your usual day-to-day work

What will you bring?

  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Experience in plumbing, heating, renewables, building surveying or property services
  • Practical understanding of domestic heating systems and building construction
  • Ability to manage multiple surveys and priorities concurrently
  • Confident customer-facing communication skills
  • Comfortable using digital tools and software
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Heat loss calculation knowledge (training can be provided)
  • Experience working on MCS-compliant installations
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in plumbing, heating or building services
