About the role: Through targeted planned and responsive reactive maintenance activities, the Craft Electrician will ensure that equipment availability is optimised and that NIW is able to comply with its regulatory and statutory obligations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a comprehensive reactive electrical maintenance service on a wide range of water and wastewater industry equipment, which includes such items as pumps, air blower systems, actuated valve assemblies, control & pneumatic systems.
  • Work on electromechanical equipment will include installation, testing, isolation, repair, replacement adjustment or refinements to equipment such as protection devices, variable speed drives, starters (DOL, Star-Delta, Auto Transformer, Soft-Start, Intelligent starters) control panels & systems, motors (ac & dc), lighting systems, generation systems and building services.
  • Deliver a planned maintenance service through the application of knowledge and experience on a wide range of equipment in line with specific procedures associated with the early identification of potential equipment defects.
  • Provide a limited mechanical reactive maintenance service on such equipment identified above. This will involve working individually or as part of a team.
  • Apply Craft skills to deliver a full range of maintenance services in the field of electrical engineering.
  • Operation of such systems as Mobile Work Management and Lone worker/confined spaces systems.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Have a relevant Electrical National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level 3 AND have a minimum of three years relevant post qualification industrial maintenance experience working as a craft electrician (maintenance electrician) OR have completed a recognised electrical industrial maintenance apprenticeship AND have a minimum of three years relevant post apprenticeship industrial maintenance experience working as a craft electrician (maintenance electrician).
  • Have relevant experience of maintaining electromechanical equipment which will include planned maintenance, repair, testing and replacement, to equipment such as variable speed drives, starters (DOL, Star-Delta, Soft-Start, Intelligent starters) switchgear, protection devices, relays and contactors. (Please demonstrate examples of work with each area shown in bold.)
  • Have relevant experience of maintaining which will include planned maintenance, repair, testing and replacement of MCC assemblies, AC motors, automation and control systems, generation systems and building services. (Please demonstrate examples of work with each area shown in bold).
