We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to join our growing food manufacturing business. This role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of production, quality, food safety, staffing, and operational performance within the factory. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards while driving continuous improvement across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production & Operations
    • Oversee day-to-day factory operations and production planning.
    • Ensure production targets, KPIs, and delivery schedules are achieved.
    • Monitor operational efficiency and implement improvements to maximise productivity and reduce waste.
    • Manage staffing levels, labour planning, and workflow across departments.
    • Ensure machinery, equipment, and facilities are maintained and operating effectively.
  • Quality & Food Safety
    • Ensure full compliance with food safety, quality, and legal standards.
    • Oversee HACCP systems, quality procedures, and factory audits.
    • Maintain compliance with customer standards and BRC requirements where applicable.
    • Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints, and implement corrective actions.
    • Promote a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the business.
  • Team Management
    • Lead, motivate, and develop production and quality teams.
    • Conduct training, performance reviews, and ongoing staff development.
    • Foster a positive and accountable working environment.
    • Ensure effective communication across all departments.
  • Health & Safety
    • Ensure compliance with all health & safety regulations and company procedures.
    • Promote safe working practices and maintain a clean, organised production environment.
    • Lead by example in maintaining high operational standards.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiencies, and cost control.
    • Support business growth initiatives and operational development.
    • Implement best practices to improve performance and customer satisfaction.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in an Operations Manager or senior production management role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP, and quality management systems.
  • Experience managing production teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of BRC standards and audit preparation desirable.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage teams effectively.
  • Results-driven with a proactive and hands-on approach.
