Our Client is one of Northern Ireland's largest and most respected haulage and logistics companies, delivering reliable transport solutions across the province. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a motivated and organised Transport Planner to join their operations team and support the planning and coordination of their tank freight fleet.
Reporting to the Senior Transport Planner, you will assist in the day-to-day planning and scheduling of tank freight operations throughout Northern Ireland. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious transport professional with approximately one year's industry experience who is looking to develop their career within a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and scheduling tanker movements to maximise fleet efficiency and customer service.
- Monitor vehicle utilisation, route optimisation, and driver allocations.
- Liaise with drivers, customers, and operational teams regarding daily transport requirements.
- Ensure compliance with transport legislation, Working Time Directive, and driver hours regulations.
- Respond to operational issues and make real-time adjustments to transport schedules.
- Maintain accurate transport records and planning systems.
- Support the delivery of key performance targets relating to service, cost control, and fleet utilisation.
- Work closely with maintenance and compliance teams to ensure vehicle availability.
- Provide administrative support to the wider transport planning function as required.
Essential Requirements:
- Approximately 1-2 year's experience in a transport planning, logistics, or fleet coordination role.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with drivers and customers.
- Good geographical knowledge of Northern Ireland.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Desirable Requirements:
- Experience within tanker, bulk liquid, fuel, or general haulage operations.
- Knowledge of transport management systems (TMS).
- Understanding of driver hours regulations and transport compliance requirements.
- CPC qualification or transport-related qualification (advantageous but not essential).
