Contract: Fixed-Term (Maternity Cover Approximately 12 Months)

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Auditor to join their food manufacturing business on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. You will be responsible for leading the site's technical function, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, legality and compliance are maintained. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality Auditor or an ambitious Quality Manager looking to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the site's Technical and Quality team.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the site's Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.
  • Ensure compliance with BRCGS Food Safety Standards, customer requirements and all relevant food legislation.
  • Manage all customer and third-party audits, ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Lead internal audits and oversee the corrective and preventative action process.
  • Manage HACCP, TACCP and VACCP systems, ensuring they remain effective and up to date.
  • Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes and implement preventative actions.
  • Monitor quality KPIs and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
  • Manage supplier approval processes and raw material specifications.
  • Ensure product specifications and technical documentation remain accurate and current.
  • Provide technical support to Production, NPD and Commercial teams.
  • Liaise with customers, regulatory authorities and certification bodies.
  • Deliver food safety, quality and hygiene training throughout the business.
  • Lead incident management and product withdrawal/recall procedures if required.
  • Ensure laboratory testing, environmental monitoring and microbiological programmes are effectively managed.
  • Stay informed of changes in legislation and industry best practice.

Person Specification:

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a Technical Manager, Quality Manager or Senior Technical role in food manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety Standard.
  • Excellent understanding of HACCP principles and food legislation.
  • Experience leading customer and third-party audits.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office.

Desirable

  • Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Level 4 HACCP qualification.
  • Experience working with major UK retailers.
  • Experience managing technical teams within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
