The Mechanical Estimator role is a key position within the company’s expanding Water division. Reporting to the Group Bid Manager, the role focuses on preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, supporting project delivery from initial enquiry through to handover, and working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full lifecycle of mechanical estimation, from initial client enquiry through to project handover
  • Review client specifications, drawings, and tender documentation to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates
  • Produce detailed technical and commercial quotations aligned with client requirements
  • Liaise with design engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing and technical input
  • Work closely with contracts managers and project teams to ensure estimates are realistic and achievable
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options within tenders
  • Ensure all estimates comply with company procedures, ISO Quality & Environmental standards, and Health & Safety regulations
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes and cost databases

Essential Criteria:

  • Ideally 3 years’ relevant experience in a Mechanical Estimator or Process Engineering role; however, we also welcome applications from recent graduates with a strong interest in this field
  • Proven experience with pumping and pipework systems is essential
  • Experience in a similar industry is desirable
  • Innovative approach to work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Desired Criteria:

  • Experience working with NI Water, Uisce Éireann or similar water utility companies
  • Knowledge of WIMES standards
