The Northern Ireland Civil Service is now recruiting Medical Officers to join their Occupational Health & Wellbeing Services. This is a senior post within the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service, functioning as a multi-disciplinary team, committed to the training and development of its staff. Job Summary The purpose of this role is to ensure that the Service is responsive to the existing and emerging healthcare needs of the NICS and client bodies. This includes professional advice on a wide range of workplace health related issues, health promotion, health protection programmes and input to policy and procedure development. Main Duties Assisting in providing advice and guidance to all Government Departments, Executive Agencies and other public bodies on their occupational health, safety and hygiene responsibilities Conducting medical examinations in Belfast, and occasionally centres across Northern Ireland, for employees who have been referred by client bodies, in relation to recruitment, fitness for post, health surveillance and sickness absence Providing medical advice on cases referred by Civil Service Pensions Providing medical advice on cases referred to the Service by a range of other agencies Working with the multi-disciplinary team in promoting and maintaining an occupational health service for the NICS including participation in health promotion activities Collaborating with client bodies in assisting them to meet their occupational health needs Eligibility Criteria Currently hold, or be entitled to hold, full registration with the General Medical Council and a valid licence to practice medicine in the UK Have the equivalent of at least 3 years post full registration clinical experience, gained within the last 7 years Have or be prepared to gain the Diploma in Occupational Medicine through the Faculty of Occupational Medicine within 3 years of appointment to post For more information and to apply, please click in the apply button below.
