The Software Sales Assured Skills Academy is an intensive eight-week training course providing practical knowledge and real-world experience required to work in the sector. All candidates will complete training relevant for the job role of a Sales Development Representative (SDR) that includes:

  • prospecting
  • outbound and pipeline execution
  • sales methodology and processes
  • problem solving and simulation for employer readiness

Those who successfully finish Assured Skills Academies are guaranteed a job interview with participating companies. Offers of employment will be at the discretion of the companies following the interview. Applicants should note that the job roles available are not eligible for skilled worker sponsorship.

Those taking part in the academy will receive a weekly training allowance of £185 for the length of the academy, as well as help towards travel and childcare expenses where people qualify.

Key dates

Belfast Metropolitan College (BMC) will invite eligible applicants to an information session and interview towards the end of June 2026. Training will take place from Monday 3 August to Friday 25 September 2026 at BMC's E3 campus and will be classroom based. Training hours are from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm every weekday. Successful applicants must be available for the whole training period.

Who can apply

Applicants must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • have a right to work and to undertake Assured Skills Training in the UK at the point of application
  • not be disqualified from doing either by reason of their immigration status

Essential criteria

  • strong communication skills and ability to build rapport quickly
  • self-driven and resilient and motivated by targets
  • organised with a disciplined approach to managing activity

Desirable criteria

  • degree in business or engineering or IT or a related field
  • experience in a customer-facing role
  • interest in the technology or software sector
