NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post is 11:00 to 14:00 (Monday - Tuesday) and 11:00 to 14:30 (Wednesday - Friday). Please note the salary is pro rata for part time hours.

The post holder is required to work as part of a team to deliver a quality service as directed by policies and procedures which are monitored by Supervisory staff. Catering assistants will work between the kitchen, dining room, retail outlet and wards. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing the provision of patient meals, covering Breakfast, Lunch & supper meal service, based on regeneration at central points with a ward based service.
  • Provision of staff/visitors meals within retail outlet.
  • Involved in basic food preparation, general support with a range of cleaning, meal picking and packing and meal distribution functions.
  • Monitoring of patient pantry provisions on the ward and clinical areas, replenishing where required.
