Anexciting new ward clerk opportunity in our new elective hub at WharfedaleHospital -previous applicants need not apply

Toundertake administrative duties at ward level including the accurate andtimely recording of patient activity data on Trust systems. To undertakeclerical and related duties on the ward and enable Sister/Charge Nurse andother ward staff to concentrate more freely on direct patient care. This will involve considerable liaison withother departments and theatres on behalf of the ward staff.

Thejobholder will contribute to the maintenance of an environment for effectivecare.

Thejobholder will work within an area caring for surgical patients and theadministrative work for nurse led clinics ran through the day surgery ward.Participate in appropriate and relevant communications networks and ensurethe maintenance of good relationships, communications and teamwork with alldisciplines within the ward / department.

Main duties of the job

Administrativeand Clerical Duties

Recordadmission, transfer and discharge activity data onto the Trust PAS system.

Arrangepatients follow-up appointments using the PAS system and order transport forpatients when required.

Recordchanges to the bed base and inform the relevant corporate team

Handletelephone calls from relatives, hospital staff, public etc, under guidancewhere necessary from the Sister/Charge Nurse, and making calls whereappropriate on behalf of ward staff.

Ensurethat patients medical records (including x-rays) are available on the ward,obtaining these where necessary from other departments.

Transferpathology and other reports to patients records, and general collation ofrecords promptly and efficiently, especially on patients discharge.

Deliverpatients mail.

Orderstationary and complete requisition forms under instruction fromSister/Charge Nurse.

Completeelectronic admission/bed system as required

Maintainingrecords on behalf of Sister/ Charge Nurse.

Assistingto maintain high standards of care

Assistin the welcome and reception of patients and visitors into the clinical area

Maintaina safe working environment, reporting incidents, accidents, complaints

Understandthe need to maintain and respect patient confidentiality

Participatein in-service training

Participatein mandatory training annually

Participatein annual performance appraisal
