An exciting career opportunity has become available across our medical and surgical directorate for motivated pharmacists who are ready to take the next step to advance their skills across the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s four pillars of Advanced Practice.

This is an exciting time to join our clinical pharmacy team as the Forth Valley Pharmacy Leadership Team seek to develop a new vision and strategy for the delivery of clinical pharmacy services that is fit for the future. In addition, we will be seeking to utilise established and new E-Systems to deliver more efficient, intelligent and targeted clinical pharmacy services. You will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of this new vision and strategy and be part of delivering novel ways of working.

Day-to-day roles and responsibilities will include:

  1. Working as an active member of the multidisciplinary team to provide inpatient services to the gastroenterology ward

  2. Joining a daily ward round and actively influencing and independently prescribing as part of the multi-disciplinary team

  3. Taking the lead for speciality gastroenterology inpatient services with support from the directorate Lead Pharmacist

  4. Being responsible for the training of rotational pharmacists.

  5. Contributing to and leading research activities in speciality area

There will also be a requirement to contribute to the core services of the pharmacy department, including dispensary, weekends, late nights and the emergency pharmacy on call service for the FVRH site.

We are seeking pharmacists who will take the lead in integrating themselves into the multidisciplinary team, as well as supporting service development to advance pharmacist clinical roles. You will take the lead for a defined patient group within the speciality areas, which will require strong leadership skills.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to make a difference and contribute to transforming hospital services and improving patient outcomes. You will need to be flexible, organised, work well within teams and have a positive, ‘can do’ attitude. You need to enjoy working in a busy challenging environment. You will be a well-rounded practitioner, working towards or having completed Foundation Training. Being qualified as an independent prescriber would be desirable although training opportunities are available for post-graduate study. You will be supported in your development and the skills developed through working in this role will set a strong foundation to build upon for advanced practice., Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
