Are you a self-motivated Senior Project Support Officer? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in an influential role? Due to growth, we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Support Officer to join the NECS Screening Administration Service (CSAS) team. We offer hybrid working in this role meaning that the successful candidate can work from a mixture of locations including home, NECS offices and customer locations.

The National Cervical Screening Programme aims to reduce the number of women developing cervical cancer. CSAS supports the National Cervical Screening Programme by:

  • Providing Prior Notification Lists (PNLs) of patients eligible for screening to GP practices
  • Sending out call and recall letters to patients eligible for cervical screening tests
  • Notifying patients of test results once we receive these from laboratories

A Senior Project Support Officer is required to work with CSAS and NHS England to manage the day-to-day delivery of the CSMS implementation project. Please note this role is restricted to CSU colleagues only.

Main duties of the job

This role will be responsible for:

  • Provision of a high quality, efficient and customer focused project support service to a broad range of internal and external customer groups.
  • Development and use of the Programme office standard ways of working.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of Programme delivery tools.
  • Ensure that the programme complies with ISO standards.
  • Maintain the Programme document repository.
  • Deputise for the Programme manager.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for a team of PSOs providing consistent high quality support to the Programme Team. To take overall responsibility for prioritisation of workload within the team. To apply effective configuration management to project libraries and ensuring that business processes are applied to the project and provide a quality assurance function over project products and documentation. Working closely with the EPMO to support standard good practice relating to project and programme management. To manage the PSO team, with a key focus on Programme/Project Assurance, Health Checks, Project Audits, Lesson Learnt, Highlight Reports and Benefits Reviews. Ensuring delivery of projects in line with the Programme Office framework and standards through regular review. The post holder will have responsibility for upholding master documentation. Providing a project support function to core project teams (Project Managers, Project Leads) in the delivery of a portfolio of projects through the full project lifecycle. To provide an efficient and effective project support service ensuring that all good practice guidelines are followed and key documents are produced, maintained and filed in a timely manner. To support the FSP programme office in delivery of training and standardised working. Work closely with the EPMO to support standard good practice related to project and programme management. Continuously improving everything we do in order to consistently exceed customer expectations.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree or equivalent or relevant experience.
  • PRINCE 2 Foundation Certificate, or equivalent.
  • Proven background of leading a Project Support Office.
  • Portfolio, Programme and Project (P3O) Foundation Certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working in a Project Portfolio role.
  • Continuous Improvement within the office environment to exceed customer expectations.

Experience

  • Relevant experience in a support role.
  • Experience of managing staff.
  • Experience of budget management.
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering complex targets and objectives to tight deadlines.
  • Proven understanding and working knowledge of PRINCE 2 methodologies.
  • Proven knowledge of change management processes, significantly around deployment of clinical IT systems.
  • Specialist knowledge in relation to clinical system functionality.
  • Experience of working across organisations and with other agencies.
