The successful candidate will co-lead alongside the Band 7 PT. Recent development and delivery of the ERAS protocol post #NOF has been implemented on two of the three orthopaedic wards, promoting the continued provision of high quality therapy service, ensuring evidence based practice with a reduced LOS.

They join an integrated team of OTs and PTs working in a friendly, dynamic and supportive environment. They will have their own caseload, lead a team of band 6 and band 5 OTs with shared responsibility for the therapy support staff.

The Surgical Division is made up of Critical Care, Surgery, Orthopaedics and Amputees under one Clinical Lead. This role will work closely with the other Band 7 therapists in the Surgical Division to further develop therapy standards.

Applicants will need to hold a current HCPC registration, have broad clinical skills including recent acute orthopaedic experience and have worked in the NHS or acute health service at band 6 or 7 level.

The service operates a rostered weekend service to ensure a 7 day provision. The shift patterns are 8am – 4pm or 10am – 6pm with rostered weekend working with time off in lieu during the week., To play a major and specialist role in the advanced assessment, treatment, clinical management and discharge planning of patients admitted to the orthopaedic wards determining clinical diagnosis, functional deficits, treatment programs and discharge planning.

Whipps Cross Hospital is a busy District General Hospital in East London and the Frailty Centre of Excellence. We are looking for an experienced band 6 OT or an established band 7 OT who has the passion and expertise to lead in Orthopaedics., * Extensive post registration experience working in an acute hospital setting in the NHS or similar health service in orthopaedics

  • Highly developed acute skills with post registration experience in relevant specialties including orthopaedics and frailty

  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Experience and confidence working within a high pressured and fast paced environment

  • Experience supervising and appraising staff and students

  • Experience of audit / research

  • Documented evidence of CPD, in accordance with HCPC recommendations

Desirable

  • Experience in working within a transdisciplinary environment, * Good knowledge of current best practice in OT with specialist clinical skills in orthopaedics

  • In depth knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to client group (#NOF and poly trauma)

  • Ability to take a proactive approach to assessment and discharge planning

  • Ability to lead & motivate a team

  • Understanding & application of risk management

  • Ability to pass on knowledge & deliver training both internally within profession & externally to other staff groups

  • Ability to organise, prioritise & delegate, and to support other staff in this
