Lead practice for research within the Sheffield South-East Research Group (SSERG) we work closely with the NIHR.

Indemnity fully paid for with MPS after 6 month probationary period. Annual leave 6 weeks plus 1 week study leave.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a focused, motivated GP to join our team based in the south east of Sheffield. You will be expected to undertake all normal duties, making professional and autonomous decisions and all responsibilities associated with working as a GP in primary care. We are seeking a GP to do 4 sessions per week including a full day on either a Monday or a Friday with flexibility to agree the further two sessions, and with no weekend work required.

About us

Our surgery is situated in the village of Mosborough, with good links to the motorway network and is also close to the Peak District National Park.

We are working towards using a total triage system from March 2025 ensuring we are making full use of the Clinical team both within the Surgery via our Nurses and HCA’s as well as working closely with our PCN. Our PCN is made up of a wide range of staff i.e. Paramedic, Mental Health Team, Social Prescribers, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, Data & Quality IT Administrator, Frailty Team, Healthcare Assistants, Care Co-ordinator, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical services as defined in the core PMS contract, and additional services where appropriate.
  • Deliver high-quality clinical care while working autonomously as a GP, adhering to GMC standards and the PMS contract.
  • Assess patient triage messages, ensuring patients are booked in with the appropriate Clinician or signposted to services more beneficial to patient needs.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, including the assessment and treatment of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Develop and implement care plans in consultation with patients, providing counselling and health education.
  • Complete a share of daily tasks, queries and prescription sign offs.
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous consultation notes using SystmOne, and manage prescriptions according to guidelines.
  • Participate in regular clinical & MDT meetings.
  • Engage with local and national healthcare initiatives to enhance and sustain service delivery.
  • Contribute to the management and improvement of practice processes, ensuring adherence to policies on confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety.
  • Foster effective communication within the team and with patients, upholding equality, diversity, and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Engage in personal and professional development, including participating in annual appraisals, revalidation, and maintaining professional registration.
  • Responsibilities will reflect requirements of the NHS GP Contracts, and as such may be subject to change as services adapt.
  • Occasional home or care home visits may be required although these are usually carried out by our PCN team.

Qualifications

  • Full GMC registration.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Experience of working in a Primary care environment.
  • Experience of continued professional development.
  • General understanding of the PMS contract.
  • Experience of Total Triage.
