Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (Apprenticeship)
Are you interested in a rewarding new career in pharmacy? The Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) programme allows you to earn whilst training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
Supported by the pharmacy team, PTPTs gain practical experience and develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours in dispensary, pharmacy stores, and on hospital wards. This is alongside undertaking a distance learning apprenticeship delivered by an external education provider. Upon completion, PTPTs are eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
The post is a 2-year fixed-term, full-time contract of 37.5 hours per week, including a weekend rota (approximately 1 in 8 weekends) and a bank holiday commitment.
Please note this position is due to start in September 2025. Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 23rd or 30th June 2025.
Candidates must be eligible to undertake an apprenticeship in the UK to apply for this role.

Candidates must also have FOUR GCSEs at grade C/level 4 or above (or equivalent), including English language, maths, and science. All qualifications should be listed on the application form, and certificates will be requested at interview.

Pharmacy experience from any background is encouraged but not essential. Candidates will also:
- have good communication skills
- be eager and able to study, learn, and work simultaneously
- be hardworking, motivated, and dedicated to achieving the qualification, as it requires self-driven learning both in your own time and during allocated study time

Permanent employment is not guaranteed at the end of the 2-year fixed-term contract. However, once registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC, you can apply for pharmacy technician roles nationwide.
Overseas qualifications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must have obtained a \’Statement of Compatibility\’ from UK ENIC (formerly NARIC) for their overseas qualifications, which must be seen at interview. More information is available at UK ENIC.

Qualifications
- Four GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/Level 4 or above, including Maths, English, and Science
- Meets UK apprenticeship eligibility criteria
- NVQ Level 2 Pharmaceutical Science (or working towards)
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting (desirable)
