East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic individual interested in Dermatology nursing: Although previous dermatology experience is desirable, many aspects of the role can be undertaken with support and guidance from the senior nursing team within the department. You will be expected to carry out triage assessments in tele-dermatology, support clinicians (both nursing and medical) in face-to-face clinics, and assist in the minor operation lists that we run in our department. You will also work within the Chronic Disease Service, supporting patients living with chronic skin diseases. Knowledge of inflammatory skin conditions and skin minor surgery can be developed through in-house training. Main duties of the job To provide high quality, individualised nursing care to patients and their parents/carers through working as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team. Run tele-dermatology assessment clinics using IT, dermoscopy, and digital images. To develop clinical and managerial skills by taking charge of the department in the absence of the department manager or the deputy. To contribute to the supervision, assessment, and education/development of ward staff and students. To contribute to the continuing development of nursing practice through research and audit. To support the delivery of Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Service. Working under the direction of a specialist (e.g., senior clinical nurse specialist/medical consultant). Person Specification Qualifications NMC Registered Evidence of continuing professional development through a portfolio Professional development in relation to dermatology/plastic surgery experience Preparation for mentorship or equivalent Experience Experience working within the outpatient day care setting. Knowledge Good knowledge and understanding of legislation relevant to children and young people Good knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice, clinical effectiveness, and clinical governance Skills Ability to work on own initiative as an effective team member.
