Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen as the Cardiac Physiology Non-Invasive Services Lead at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking a clinically expert, enthusiastic, and motivated individual to join our multidisciplinary department.

We undertake a full range of cardiac diagnostic tests including Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET), Nuclear Cardiology procedures, exercise tolerance testing, and event monitor analysis across two hospital sites in Oxford and Banbury, as well as several community settings.

This position is ideal for a current band 7 seeking to develop leadership and management skills and gain experience in service development.

Main duties of the job

Working with the Head of Cardiac Physiology, the post holder will assist in managing all Cardiac Physiology Non-Invasive and Nuclear Cardiology services.

The post holder will support the delivery of high-quality, efficient services to patients and supervise, guide, and support staff in their roles within the department.

They will be expected to work as an independent practitioner and participate in training and appraisals of junior staff.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will lead the management and development of the Cardiac Physiology Non-Invasive Services, collaborating with CSU Leads and the Head of Cardiac Physiology. They will deliver procedures independently, oversee staff training, and ensure excellent patient care. The role involves working with the Directorate Leadership Team to manage operations efficiently, providing leadership and direction for the service, and helping meet strategic objectives.

Additional responsibilities include managing the service budget, achieving government targets, and supervising the Cardiac Physiology MDT.

Person Specification

Essential

  • BSc in Cardiac Physiology or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in cardiac diagnostics, procedures, and investigations
  • Evidence of effective senior leadership and developmental work
  • Experience in managing HR, finance, and clinical risk/governance issues
  • Innovative work within the field
  • Ability to liaise confidently with internal and external disciplines

Desirable

  • Masters or PhD education or working towards it
  • Managerial qualification
  • Membership of a professional group
