We are seeking two motivated Assistant Psychologists to join our Newham Emotional and Behavioral (E&B) team, working in the Front Door Team (FDT) and Neurodevelopmental Team (NDT). One post will support the clinical work of the FDT by processing new referrals, liaising with referrers, assisting with consultations, and contributing to the screening pathway for ADHD and Autism. The other post will support clinicians in providing a specialist service within CAMHS to neurodivergent children, young people, and their families. This community-based role offers evidence-based episodes of care, including assessments, formulation, and group/individual interventions.
Main duties include opportunities to learn and consolidate clinical skills in various modalities, receive weekly supervision with a clinical psychologist, co-run workshops and groups, shadow or conduct psychometric testing under supervision, and support audits and data management with FDT/NDT Clinical Leads. The post holders will contribute to a positive multidisciplinary team environment and may undertake specialist pathway work. This position provides valuable experience for those aiming to pursue a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with opportunities for professional development and supervision.

- Education/Qualification/Training (Essential): Degree (1st or 2.1) in psychology; eligibility for Graduate membership of the BPS
- Experience (Essential): Experience in a healthcare setting, understanding of working with a multicultural population, knowledge of statutory and voluntary agencies involved in services for children and families, relevant experience such as conducting audits, evaluation projects, or research contributions, skills in qualitative research interviews and analysis
- Desirable Experience: Screening for ADHD and Autism, work with children and young people, understanding of discrimination & disadvantage impacts on mental health, experience with neurodevelopmental conditions, work in multicultural settings, including with interpreters
- Knowledge (Essential): Effective liaison with referrers and multidisciplinary teams, outcome data analysis and understanding service/commissioning context, workload planning and prioritization, effective communication skills, both oral and written, for complex and sensitive information, meeting organization, minute-taking, professional communication
- Desirable Knowledge: Clinical and service reporting skills, research and statistical skills; access to evidence-based resources, flexibility and adaptability, proficiency in PowerPoint, Access, Word, Excel, SPSS, independent working and effective use of supervision
- Other (Essential): Ability to manage organizational stress and support others, physical ability to sit for extended periods, concentration and focus during various tasks, handling distressing/emotional circumstances professionally, respectful, negotiation, and confrontation management skills
