Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Unit 2 theatres. We are looking to recruit a Band 3 Senior Theatre Support Worker to join our friendly team, based on the Royal Liverpool Hospital site.
Responsibilities
- Assist the theatre team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
- Assist in the smooth running of theatre lists by sending for patients as required and escorting patients from theatre to recovery area with the appropriate handover.
- Undertake pre-operative catheterisation of female patients.
- Act as scrub person for minor surgery, endoscopic procedures and some arthroscopic procedures.
- Take responsibility for ordering and maintenance of stock levels, of specialist items and resources in the unit.
- Participate in peri-operative care team and assist in the cleaning and maintenance of the clinical environment and theatre equipment.
- Organise the required equipment and medical staff needed for the list and oversee decontamination and disinfection of scopes and specialist probes.
- Undertake clinical procedures including bronchoscopy, flexible cystoscopes, TRUBS and ECT where appropriate.
- Monitor patient condition and take appropriate action if there is any cause for concern; discharge patients to the ward or Recovery Area.
Qualifications
- Essential: NVQ Level 3 in care or a care-related subject.
- Essential: Level 3 in direct care.
- Essential: Awareness of Essence of Care benchmarking.
- Desirable: Basic IT skills.
