About the role

As a permanent part‑time Mental Health and Wellbeing Nurse (15 hours per week, Band 5), you will work within the Primary Care arena to promote positive mental health and wellbeing at a population level, helping to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes in physical health, social cohesion and economic productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide mental health and wellbeing triage assessments for individuals experiencing mental health and wellbeing issues.
  • Signpost individuals and make referrals to self‑management, community resources, third sector and Health and Social Care services.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills and understanding of mental health issues and treatment options to support Primary Care staff.
  • Contribute to early intervention and prevention of mental ill health, parity of esteem for individuals with mental health and wellbeing issues, and reduction of stigma associated with mental health and wellbeing issues and intervention options.
  • Provide supervisory support to junior members of the nursing team within the integrated care team.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills as a core component of the role.

Qualifications:

  • Registered on Sub‑part 1: RN3 or RNMH of the UK NMC Register.
  • Proven ability to display strengths‑based and socially inclusive approaches to working, manage change, and commit to improving the lives of people with mental health problems.
