An exciting opportunity has arisen for nurses to develop professionally within the growing Neuroprogressive and Dementia Research Network.

The Neuroprogressive and Dementia Research Network is an established organisation funded by the Chief Scientist Office. Our primary aim is to support and facilitate the conduct and delivery of clinical trials in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases within the NDN portfolio.

The NDN team in Ninewells Hospital are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic nurse to work on the Michael J Fox Foundation (MJFF) funded LRRK2 Investigative Therapeutics Exchange (LITE) Parkinson’s Disease trial, led by Dr Esther Sammler. The LITE clinical trial is part of a major global initiative to further our understanding of LRRK2 and develop new treatment targets in this field. This exciting new project has participating sites around the globe, funded by MJFF and led from the University of Dundee. The post-holder will support the study coordinator and medical team to recruit participants, collect study data (including blood samples, urine, assisting with lumbar puncture and skin biopsy) and also various study-related administrative tasks in Ninewells. Experience working with people living with Parkinson’s and some of the various procedures would be advantageous, though full training will be provided.

Applicants will have an understanding of research within the NHS, post registration clinical experience and evidence of professional development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is proven ability to be an effective team member as these posts involve working closely with both the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will also be able to work to achieve study targets and have strong organisational and IT skills.

This post offers the opportunity to develop new clinical skills, knowledge and professional skills in clinical research nursing and in the management of clinical trials.

Hours of work: Full-time,37, but part-time hours will be considered. Monday to Friday office hours (8-4pm/9-5pm). Fixed Term/Secondment to 31.3.26.
