NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for an Accountant- Process Improvement to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.
We are seeking an experienced Accountant- Process Improvement who will be responsible for working on projects with the support of the Accounting Manager for a wide range of business projects which have an impact on the accounting function.
This role will involve reviewing and agreeing business requirements, user acceptance testing, training, implementation and transition support. In addition, there is also a requirement to review and drive process improvement for activities within accounting, designing and implementing new processes to improve efficiencies within the function.
Every day you will …
- Track progress against expectation within established finance systems and report variances to more senior colleagues.
- Ensure the organisation is not exposed to undue risks by assessing the project impact at team level using risk management systems to achieve specific goals within a designated area of the business
- Organise and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. The successful candidate will also be responsible for gathering and summarising data for special reports.
- Analyse specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature
- Plan and coordinate testing training and implementation support of the products and processes. Be able to implement corrective actions or continuous improvement initiatives, and monitoring them to ensure that they are effective.

- Previous experience of working as an Accounting Project manager with extensive experience of managing a project from initiation to completion.
- An analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and make informed decisions
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring that complex financial information is presented clearly and comprehensibly.
- Fully qualified accountant
- The ability to adapt plans and strategies in response to changing project requirements.
- The ability to create and manage budgets, forecast expenses, and monitor cash flow
- Previous experience of planning a project with the ability to define the project scope, including setting timelines, and organising the necessary resources
