We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.This is a full time permanent post (40) which will be worked over Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00 with on call.This full-time Consultant position (10 Programmed Activities, or 10PA) in Older Adult Psychiatry is open to candidates who have completed or are within six months of completing their Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) and hold Section 22 Approved Medical Practitioner (AMP) status.ResponsibilitiesProvide acute older adult psychiatry liaison services to Inverclyde Royal Hospital and the Larkfield Unit (Department for Geriatric Medicine).Consultant input to Inverclyde care homes, supported by three liaison nurses and a specialist stress and distress nurse. There are plans to enhance psychology support for the care home team.Deliver two sessions of Consultant input to Willow Ward, a 30-bed organic Hospital Complex Care Ward within the Orchard Unit on the Inverclyde Hospital site.Additional support is available from inpatient clinical psychology and pharmacy services.Inpatient And Continuing Care BedsInpatient beds are located at Ward 4, Larkfield Unit, Inverclyde Royal Hospital.Continuing Care beds are at Orchard View Unit on the hospital grounds.Contract DetailsConsultant And Community CoverageTwo other Consultant posts cover the hospital and community, excluding care homes, which are under the remit of this post.The Community Mental Health Team (CMHT), consisting of Mental Health Officers (MHOs) and social workers, operates as an integrated team from Inverclyde Royal Hospital and Crown House (Greenock).Teaching And TrainingThe post holder will be expected to have recognition of trainer status. Resident doctors are frequently appointed to OPMH Inverclyde. Opportunity for higher trainer status with support if desired. The post holder will be expected to be involved with teaching medical students from Glasgow University.On-call & Working ArrangementsParticipation in the South Glasgow on-call rota (minimum 1:25), with a higher trainee present until 3am daily. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.
