Clinical Fellow Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery Clinical Fellow Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery 3 weeks ago Be among the first 25 applicants An opportunity has arisen for Clinical Fellow in either Cardiac or Thoracic Surgery to join our team for a period of 12-24 months. One of the largest cardiothoracic programmes in the UK, our team undertake a wide range of procedures including approximately 1300 open heart procedures and almost 1200 thoracic procedures each year. In addition, we are one of the largest robotic thoracic centres in the UK. The unit undertakes heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support (Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service), and adult congenital cardiac surgery (Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service). The successful candidates will be fully supported by a thriving and friendly cardiothoracic team. You will share responsibility for the pre-operative assessment, preparation, surgical care and post-operative care of all cardiac and thoracic surgery patients. This includes attendance at outpatient clinics & MDT meetings, ward rounds and elective and emergency operating sessions. The post holder will contribute to the full shift out of hours rota. This role would suit doctors who wish to gain more clinical experience in either cardiac or thoracic surgery before applying for a National Training Number, or more experienced applicants who are pursuing a CESR. Involvement with audit, research, education and leadership will be encouraged. Study leave and financial support are provided.
